Birthday Party - Vintage Book Theme

Remember Aubrey? Well someone just had their first birthday party and we have been waiting to share with you her invitations. Her mom decided to go with a Vintage Book theme for Aubrey's party (think Classic Winnie the Pooh), she even requested that if guests decided to bring a gift, please make it a book for the birthday girl. Great way to keep those toys under control!

As far as design, I went with a not-so-in-your-face book theme. I didn't want to just put classic children's book characters onto an invitation. So not only did I play up the typical 'Once upon a time...' but we actually made it into a book form, spine and all.

Babies on the Brain: Baby Girl Birth Announcement

Call me crazy, but it seems like half of the woman I know are either having babies in 2011 or planning for babies in 2011. I'm still recovering from wedding planning, but lately I feel completely engulfed into all of this baby talk.

Last year around this time we had put together a birth announcement for sweet baby girl Aubrey (Happy 1st Birthday, a few days late!). I actually just finished up her first birthday invitations last month, more on those later though. Here's to looking back a year later. And thanks to Aubrey's mom for providing many photos for her birthday invitation. Look at Aubrey now, precious!

Where it All Started - Hydrangea Wedding Invitations

As some of you may know, Sign it With Love is a side hobby of mine, not the work I do full time. My 'real' job is a Marketing Consultant in Chicago. It is sort of funny because Sign it With Love just sort of became something overnight. It wasn't really planned, it wasn't something I had dreamed about for years. It just happened.

It all started when Jenny was planning her wedding actually. I had helped plan her bridal shower and created all the paper goods. It was fun, I received some great feedback. But in my mind that was it. Well, then came the planning of the 'all things paper' for Jenny's actual wedding and guess who got the gig! To me, that was the moment Sign it With Love slowly started to become where it is today, I just didn't know it yet. While I had done a few other invitations before the June 2010 Malic Wedding, I consider this the actual first piece of work.

Ok, so on with the real reason you are here, the goods, the paper:

Color Scheme: Lilac & Mid-Night Blue

Wedding Invitations: We finished with square invites, but with a more traditional feel since they were not part of a pocket envelope or sleeve.

The rest of 'All Things Paper': For the placecards, menus and table numbers we kept with the same simple hydrangea, but switched to lilac colored paper rather than the white. This would allow the items to pop against the white table linens.

For the placecards we used the simple tent technique. And since table placement can change many times during planning, we printed with blank table numbers. Jenny & Louis merely printed them in blue pen once everything was considered final.

Each guest had a menu placed into a folded napkin

Each table number was placed in a photo frame

So what do you think?
Even after almost a year, I still am very much in love with that simple hydrangea.

Happy Holidays!

We have been a little quiet over here lately, but that is only because we have been working really hard on Holiday Cards, Save the Dates, Birthday Cards. We can't wait to share everything with everyone soon.

Until then, enjoy your holiday, enjoy your friends and family. Happy Holidays from us both!

NYE Invitations with a Christmas Twist

A few months ago when Erica reached out to us about designing her New Years Eve party invitations I knew I could have a little bit of fun with these. Erica is probably one of the funniest people I have ever met, every time we talk my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. She decided she wanted to throw an Ugly Christmas Sweater themed party. Of course when you hear Ugly Christmas Sweater your mind goes right to an argyle sweater. I was determined to come up with something different. Different is fun. I think we went through 20 color variations to get things just right, but in the end I think they came out great.

We actually provided a digital file, which is always an option if you want to print things out yourself on your home computer.
